In terms of ability, in addition to basic quantitative research methods, public health personnel need to have the ability to belong to the "practical" field, such as the ability to define problems, understand the environment, provide effective solutions, and compare the advantages and disadvantages of various solutions.
3. Differences between Master of Public Health (MHP) and Master of Science (Master of Science)
At present, the master's degree in the field of public health in China is mainly conferred by the Master of Science (Master of Science), but the Master of Public Health has always been the mainstream of talent cultivation in the world. For example, there are 49 well-known universities in the United States that have accredited schools of public health. (Graduate School of Public Health), one of the prerequisites for public health schools, must provide MPH or an equivalent professional degree. According to the United States' distinction between academic degrees and professional degrees, the Master of Science in the field of public health currently trained in China should be an academic degree, which does not meet the requirements of the United States. The basic requirements of the School of Public Health highlight the lack of practice in the current domestic public health personnel training process.
4. Course Teaching Features

6.Target of enrollment
- In-service medical professionals (target enrollment):
Clinical medical workers have several years (for example, more than three years) of work experience and are expected to concurrently hold management or administrative positions, or assume decision-making or administrative responsibilities. Many workers who were originally in the medical or health professional fields, although they have studied initial public health courses, but before facing administrative responsibilities, they are unable to realize the relevance and importance of public health training. For junior or mid-level managers, MPH training can expand their horizons and enhance their theoretical and knowledge background. - Professional workers in other fields (cross-field researchers), those who need knowledge of public health practice:
The field of work related to public health is by no means limited to traditional medicine and hygiene. Almost all public policies have their health effects; food and drug policy are certainly not mentioned, transportation policy, tax system, social welfare policy, industrial policy, labor policy, housing policy, basic wages, trade policy, energy policy, etc. It will not affect the health of the people of the country. The MPH program hopes to attract staff from various government departments or various private sector agencies, provide basic training, and assist them to jointly protect the health of the people of the country. - Students who are above the fourth grade in the Department of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Physical Therapy (combination of study and master):
MPH personnel training emphasizes extensive knowledge base and comprehensive analysis ability for practical problems. The essence of training lies in the ability to integrate viewpoints and comprehensive analysis, which is in line with the cross-field characteristics of public health issues. This kind of training focuses on what can be played in the workplace a special talent. At present, most of the participants in the Physician-Scientist program focus on the natural sciences while ignoring the social sciences. The MPH program also looks forward to opening students to a broader perspective on medicine and health. Every year, some students from the Department of Medicine and Dentistry of our school gradually develop interest in the field of public health during their studies and clinical training, and even actively seek channels for receiving MPH training in China. The establishment of the public health degree program will help this Students in this category can gain an in-depth understanding of the particularity of public health issues at the school stage, which is helpful for their career planning.
